Ex President Joyce Banda Vying For Parliamentary Seat In Zomba Ntonya; As Masangwi Goes To ZA City Central
As more drama continue to unfold ahead of the 2019 General Elections, former President of the Republic of Malawi Joyce Hilda Mtila Banda will contest as a Member of Parliament in her home village district of Zomba.
Protecting her son Roy Kachale who is already legislator for Zomba-Malosa Constituency from losing his seat, the former 2-year Malawi leader has opted to contest for a Parliamentary seat in Zomba-Ntonya Constituency.
Standing on her opposition People’s Party (PP) ticket, Joyce Banda is expected to face it off with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party’s (DPP) Dr Patrick Makina.
Makina, who won the seat on a PP ticket in 2014 recently dumped the fading People’s Party and joined the popular governing DPP of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
Meanwhile, Blantyre City East Parliamentarian Noel Masangwi who is now agitating for Vice President Saulos Chilima’s Movement has also run away from his constituency opting to contest in Zomba City Central Constituency. In Zomba, Masangwi will have to battle it out with the incumbent Patricia Kainga Nangozo and a fierce come back for former legislator Yunus Mussa.
