Peter Mponda Set To Join DPP In A Bid To Contest For Blantyre City South Constituency

Former Malawi national team captain and now assistant coach Peter ‘Mjojo’ Mponda is set to join ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and plans are underway that he will  contests for a parliamentary seat in Blantyre City South Constituency in 2019 polls,Malawi Independent has learnt.

Mponda’s move to join active politics comes after the people in the area had been approaching him to join politics and present them in the coming parliamentarian elections , and he is reported to have consulted widely before accepting the run to the political battle ground.

“Youth empowerment is my motivation why I have decided to join politics,” said Mponda.

Mponda will be running in a constituency which the current incumbent is veteran gospel singer  Allan Ngumuya.
