President Mutharika Addresses Fast Track Initiative Aimed At Ending AIDS Globally Organised By UNAids

President of Republic of Malawi  Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika on Thursday  attended and addressed delegates on the Fast Track initiative. 

The High-Level Meeting on Ending Aids was focusing on the world’s attention on the importance of a Fast-Track approach to the Aids response over the next five years and galvanize the attention of world leaders on the Sustainable Development Goals target of ‘ending Aids by 2030’ and what can collectively be done as a global community to achieve this goal.

Fast Track  initiative is organised by the UNAids and was held under the theme, “Quickening the Pace of Action to End AIDS.

In 2016, Malawi President Peter Mutharika appointed seven-person government delegation and approved three Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) delegation to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) high level meeting on HIV and Aids.

The meeting   took place at the UN Headquarters in New York on the sidelines of 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
