IG Kachama Wife in MCP clothes

Wife of Malawi Police chief Lexten Kachama has been captured with opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) members in party regalia suggesting she is partisan and behind the MCP.

Police officers are not supposed to be apolitical and largely that translates to their spouses.

MCP officials say they see nothing wrong with Mrs Kachama wearing their party regalia let alone participate in their political activities.

But observers say this will raise “eyebrows.”

They argue that her political stance can compromise the neutrality of the police chief.
